Mission:
Our mission is to unite Wings of Hope members as one voice to be leaders for social change within their community. We will nurture positive values, drug free lives, safe decisions, and health and wellness.
Programs and Services:
- Assist at-risk students to achieve academic success while also supporting resiliency by increasing protective factors for participating youth and families.
- Teaching youth leadership skills, and how to become positive, productive citizens in their communities.
- Encouraging students to see there is an entire world out there waiting for them to make their debut when the time comes.
Summer Youth Outreach Program brings value, and stimulation, and fosters self-esteem as well as mental and physical health and wellness. We truly see a need for a more holistic approach to healing, repairing, and empowering our youth. We feel our need for potential life-changing programming is apparent. Our community's struggle with substance abuse, poverty, and mental health is a well-documented one. Targeting both youth and seniors in our area with programming cultivated to address these issues plaguing our community not only creates visibility and awareness but puts tools to combat these issues directly in our participant's hands. The Summer Youth Program offers a plethora of different projects throughout the summer for approximately 100 youth, including physical fitness through Pump Iron for Life, Kids Kuisine and Life on a Plate, Equestrian Kids, Botvin’s Life Skills, Mary C. Holmes STEM Camp, and Cirque D’ Art.
Did you know?
Did you know that our founder and director, Maxine Malone, is on the Scioto County Juvenile Drug Court Board of Directors along with others including, local law enforcement, educators, counselors, Judge Lemons, and Judge Kegley? The Juvenile Drug Court Program is a cooperative effort of the juvenile justice, social service, law enforcement, and education systems in the state. This program seeks to divert non-violent juvenile offenders exhibiting alcohol or substance abuse behavior from the traditional juvenile court process to an intensive, individualized treatment process. The goal is to reduce future court involvement for these youth. They need to participate in the complete program and graduate to keep from being incarcerated. The board also participates in providing alcohol and substance abuse treatment, mental health, domestic violence, and human trafficking. Wings of Hope works extensively with OHMAS, Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. WOH is very active in prevention and intervention in these programs with our youth and the money you donate is always invested in our youth.
