


The Scioto Foundation Board of Directors has announced changes to its staff headed by the naming of Therese Egbert to the position of Assistant Director in January, 2025, along with the addition of two part-time newcomers.
Egbert’s responsibilities at the Foundation include overseeing the day-to-day administration of the office, maintaining all Foundation files, arranging and preparing for Foundation Board meetings and other meetings, as well as working with the Executive Director and other staff members to plan special events and to administer Foundation grants and scholarships and donor services, among other duties.
She has served as Staff Accountant for the Foundation for 14 years, charged with keeping all financial records and taking care of all financial transactions for the community philanthropic organization. From 2005 – 2011 Egbert was the Human Resources Coordinator at Hillview Retirement Center. In 2007, she received the AOPHA Employee Recognition Award. Egbert is a graduate of Notre Dame High School and 2005 magna cum laude graduate of Shawnee State University. She was a member of National Honor Society and on the Dean’s List for 5 quarters and the President’s List for 2 quarters. She is currently working to earn a Master’s Degree in Business Administration at Shawnee State. She has been a member of PALS, Inc. (Portsmouth Area Ladies) for 10 years and has served as treasurer of the community volunteer and service organization for 1/1/2 years. Egbert is a life-long member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. She is married to Elliott Egbert and they are the parents of one son, Zane, a fourth-grader at Notre Dame Elementary School.
Additionally, Kenny Sanderlin who will graduate from Shawnee State University in December, 2025 with a B.S. Degree and a focus on Accounting, has filled Egbert’s former position as Staff Accountant. Sanderlin started his work at the Foundation on March 17. Sanderlin’s duties include handling all the Foundation’s financial functions, processing all donations, grants and scholarships and disbursements, processing invoices, maintaining the annual operating budget and reconciling fund reports.
Sanderlin has been named to both the Dean’s List and the President’s List while at Shawnee State with a 3.73 overall GPA and a 4.0 GPA in his major. He was also a Shawnee Success Scholarship Recipient. Sanderlin graduated from Portsmouth High School in 2023 with a strong academic record and a class rank of five out of 96. He was a member of National Honor Society and an All-State high school basketball player who scored over 1,000 points and made 500 rebounds during his athletic career.
Janice Johnson, recently retired Shawnee State University Professor, has also joined the Scioto Foundation’s part-time staff as a business advisor. While at Shawnee State, Johnson served as Chairwoman for the Department of Business Administration from May 2009 to May 2021. She was on the faculty of the School of Business from September 1995 to December 2021 when she instructed and developed Associate and Baccalaureate Program Courses, freshman through senior.
Johnson was also Assistant Director of the SSU Cyber Center from November 2008 until May 2010, following initial positions as an Adjunct Professor and Instructional Associate from September 1987 through May 1995. She earned a Master of Business Administration at Morehead State University in May 1992 when she graduated with a 3.9 GPA. She graduated from Shawnee State University Summa cum laude in June, 1990.
Johnson currently serves on the Scioto Foundation’s Scholarship Selection Committee and has been on the Scioto 365 Advisory Committee for several years.
