In the summer of 2022, the Scioto Foundation Board of Governors awarded Shawnee Mental Health, Inc. $15,000 from the Bertha T. Johnson Fund and the Ed & Helen Fannin Fund for “Providing Housing Stability for Youth Aging Out of Foster Care”.
This grant provided partial funding to help furnish apartments and a communal area within their new 45-unit apartment complex housing facility at Hisle Park. The facility is designed to provide safe, affordable and quality housing for at-risk transitional-age youth in this region.
On May 12, 2023, Shawnee Mental Health and PMHA hosted a dedication ceremony at Hisle Park. In attendance at the event was MLB great, Larry Hisle, whom the facility was named after.
Below are photos of examples of the furniture purchased by Shawnee Mental Health and the dedication ceremony.
The Scioto Foundation annually awards grants on a quarterly basis in categories of the arts, education, community development, social services and health. Application deadlines are March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31.
