Friends of Scioto Casa (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children) receives $8,000

The Scioto Foundation Board of Governors has awarded the Friends of Scioto Casa (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children) $8,000 from the Jenkins Benevolent Fund to support the needs of children in foster care.

The mission of Scioto CASA is to recruit, train, guide, monitor and maintain qualified volunteers to advocate for the best interest of children who are before the court as a result of abuse, neglect and/or dependency as defined by the state child welfare laws.

The funds received from the Scioto Foundation will go toward three goals: training and providing professional development for current CASAS, fulfilling children’s needs in care by allotting a birthday fund to each child in care and providing tutoring if needed, and retention and recruiting of qualified CASAS.
