In the 1980s the Scioto Foundation awarded $1,485 to the 14th Street Community Center to sponsor visiting artists. The summer program hosted at the Southern Ohio Museum and Cultural Center consisted of a lecture/demonstration on the history and dynamics of modern jazz with the Bobby Shaw Trio; a poetry workshop and multi-media presentation on the history of Blues music by Anna Bishop; a theater workshop with actor-playwright, Clarence Young, III; and a workshop in wood sculpting with Barbara Chavous.

For 50 years the Scioto Foundation has awarded grants in classifications of the arts, education, community development, social services and health. Application deadlines are March 31, June 30, September 30 and December 31.
